Pregnancy is a major event in a woman’s life. It can be a joyous time if you plan for it but, it can also be a time of uncertainty and worry if you are not ready. Once you accept the fact that you’re becoming a mother, you have to make wise decisions that will benefit both your health and that of your baby.
Taking care of your health is important to the well-being of your baby. So, aside from finding the right physician or OBGYN for you, you also have to attend regular prenatal medical checkups. Proper medical care during pregnancy increases your chances of having a healthy baby.
A pregnancy is broken into three stages or trimesters. The first trimester is from conception to the end of week 13. The second trimester is from week 14 to the end of week 26. And, the third trimester is from week 27 to the end of the pregnancy.
If you are working during your pregnancy, you may continue working as long as the job does not require too much physical exertion. You may also participate in moderate fitness and recreational activities, however, you have to avoid activities like fast running, water-skiing and other activities that may be harmful for you and the baby.
